I've recently improved my soldering skills enough to attempt some designs with soldered frames. I made these fan earrings while watching CNN footage of the quake in Japan.
In light of so many things going on in the world this week, I don't feel much like talking about myself.

But now the experience is pretty good most of the time:))
Oh one thing you need to add to your skills when you do soldering is filing the correct way. It will help you to get a smooth texture of metals. I learned it in my gem setting class and it helps me a lot dear !

ReplyDeleteI was going to write about the filing thing too, but Emi has already said it :-). I usually start off with those big files that do the job quick and dirty. And then to a finer one. And then the sand papers...coarse, medium, fine, superfine till it is all shiny. I'm forgetting the numbers...been so long since I made any jewelry. Filing, sand papering etc is boring, but the piece ends up looking good. And then again, sometimes I get lazy and not do it so thoroughly.
